You’ve probably heard the phrase a million times:
There’s nothing wrong with being single.
I know this because I heard it all the time. When I was a teenager, when I was in my early twenties. I heard this phrase almost daily until I met my boyfriend. I think that it’s meant to be an encouragement to those of us that are single, but in a way, it doesn’t always make things better.
I think that it’s meant to come from a good place, because, really there ISN’T anything wrong with being single. In fact, being single gives you time to figure out who you are, what you want to do with your life, exactly what you want in your future spouse, etc.
I was able to get to a point where I LOVED being single. You can, too, and I honestly believe that. While I hate hearing the phrase, “Nothing wrong with being single”, I also believe it with every fiber of my being.
Being single is a GOOD thing. It isn’t a punishment that you are having to work out a sentence. It’s a blessing because you get to find out who you are on your OWN. You don’t need someone else to define you – only you and God can do that.
So, today. I’m not going to say “Nothing wrong with being single”, but I am going to say that being single is a good thing. Take this time as a blessing – even if it’s in disguise.
Someday when you meet Mr. Right you’ll realize that being single all those years really wasn’t all that bad after all. And it was worth every second once you met him.
