Three Things Thursday: 3.13.14

  1. This past weekend, Mom and I got into my car and drove to Baltimore for Apologia’s Real Refreshment Retreat. It was our first “job” with Apologia, and can I just say…I had the best time! It was so great to meet all the wonderful homeschooling moms and get to know them a little better, as well as being able to see some of my favorite people – Zan Tyler, Rachael Carman, Sherri Seligson, and Heidi St. John! It was so much fun.
Here I am with Sherri Seligson (left) and Zan Tyler (right). Sherri wrote my favorite science textbook – Apologia’s Marine Biology. And Zan wrote 7 Tools for Cultivating Your Child’s Potential. They are two of the sweetest women I’ve ever met, and I loved getting to hang out with them!
  2. I realized  this past weekend just how much I missed working at a homeschool convention. While this was mainly a retreat to help homeschool moms get refreshed and back into the swing of things with schooling, Mom and I were also working the booth to sell Apologia curriculum and press books. Because I haven’t worked a convention in 3 years, I forgot how much fun it was to meet all the people and interact with them. (The best thing about working with Apologia is that I’ve done so many of their science courses, I can EASILY brag them up!)
  3. One quote that really stuck with me from the weekend was from Heidi St. John: Facebook has taught me that we have time to be in the Word.”

  • Great list this week, Ashley! We got refreshed there and we didn’t even try to. 🙂
